Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, February 12, 2026.The visit, according to a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director General of Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, was to personally congratulate Engr. Mohammed on his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and to express the governor’s strong confidence in his ability to provide effective and transformative leadership in Nigeria’s critical midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the NMDPRA boss as a “worthy ambassador” of Gombe State, whose steady rise to the pinnacle of the oil and gas industry is a testament to his exceptional technical expertise, professionalism, and dedication over the years.The governor urged Engr. EFCC arraigns suspects who ‘collected N603m from lady to facilitate her appointment as NNPC GMD’
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) hasarraigned two suspects for allegedly obtaining the sum of N603.4 million fromone Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye to facilitate her appointment as the group managingdirector of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. The suspects are Gidado Ibrahim and Halimat Adenike Tejusho,who is currently at large. They were arraigned on Monday at the Federal CapitalTerritory (FCT) high court in Maitama on an amended six count-charge borderingon fraud and obtaining by false pretence. The suspects were accused of allegedly forging a documentwith the letter titled: ‘Presidential Villa State House, OFFICE OF THE NATIONALSECURITY ADVISER.’ “That you GIDADO IBRAHIM and HALIMAT ADENIKE TEJUSHO O (nowat large) between August 2024 to October 2024 within the jurisdiction of thisHonourable court obtained the sum of N603, 400,000.00. (Six Hundred and ThreeMillion, Four Hundred Thousand Naira) from OLUSEYE YOMI-SHOLOYE under the falsepretence that you will facilitate her appointment as the Group ManagingDirector (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), whichpretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary toSection 1(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act,2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act,” part of the chargesheet reads. “That you, GIDADO IBRAHIM sometime in August, 2024 at Abujawithin the jurisdiction of this Honorable court did use as genuine a forgeddocument titled ‘Presidential Villa State House, OFFICE OF THE NATIONALSECURITY ADVISER’ when you knew or had reason to believe it to be forged andyou thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 366 of the Penal Code Lawand Punishable under Section 364 of the same Law.” Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to the charges. After the not guilty plea, Y. Tarfa, the prosecutioncounsel, asked the court for a trial date and prayed that the defendant beremanded in the correctional centre. B. B. Alhaji, counsel to Ibrahim, appealed to the court toremand his client in EFCC custody over his health status pending the ruling ofthe bail application. H. Muazu, the trial judge, adjourned the matter to February17, 2026 for hearing of the application The judge thereafter ordered the remand of the defendant inKuje correctional facility.
