Dimora Medical Introduces New Pricing for MegaSorbTM Dressings, Expanding Access to Professional-Grade Wound Care
NEW YORK , Aug. 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Dimora Medical, a continuous innovator in high-end medical care supplies, today announced price reductions across its entire MegaSorbTM wound dressing lineup—with select SKUs discounted by up to 29% to make advanced wound management solutions more accessible to a broader range of households. The move reflects the company's ongoing commitment to helping patients and caregivers access professional-grade wound care products while managing the growing financial pressures associated with healthcare and long-term recovery. Dimora MegaSorbTM Dressings Industry research indicates that wound management is increasingly shifting from hospitals and clinical settings to home-based care , driven by factors including shorter hospital stays, an aging population, and growing demand for effective treatment outside traditional healthcare facilities. At the same time, healthcare expenditures in the United States continue to rise , placing greater emphasis on solutions that balance clinical performance with affordability. Through the new pricing initiative, Dimora Medical aims to make advanced wound management more accessible to patients and caregivers. Supported by continued business growth and operational efficiencies, the initiative allows more consumers to benefit from high-performance wound care solutions at a lower cost. Beyond the purchase price, the overall cost of wound care is often influenced by product performance. Introduced earlier this year as Dimora Medical's proprietary silicone foam dressing technology platform, MegaSorbTM features a Dual-Action Absorption System built on a highly porous foam structure designed for rapid fluid absorption and retention. Capable of absorbing up to 15 times its own weight in fluid, MegaSorbTM dressings help manage moderate-to-heavily exuding wounds, reducing leakage risk and supporting a more stable wound environment. Their high absorbency may also help minimize dressing changes, contributing to more efficient use of wound care supplies over time. The new pricing initiative for the MegaSorbTM dressings underscores Dimora Medical's commitment to improving access to professional-grade wound care. To support this effort, select sacral dressing products , including the 7"×7" and 6"×6" formats, will be offered at 15% off on Amazon from August 24 to September 6. By bringing together affordability, performance, and ease of use, the initiative supports families navigating recovery and ongoing care at home. Moving forward, Dimora Medical will continue advancing product innovation and operational efficiencies to make home wound management simpler, more effective, and more accessible—upholding its core mission to make home care easy. HTX Research Examines U.S. AI Equities: Technology Remains Early, While Capital Expenditure and Valuations Have Entered the Late Cycle
APIA, Samoa , Aug. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- HTX Research, the dedicated research arm of HTX, has released a new report titled The Industrialization of Intelligence and the Bubble Cycle: Token Economics, Capital Expenditure, and the Repricing of Risk-Reward Across U.S. AI Equities . Its central argument is that the AI industry and AI equities are not at the same point in their respective cycles — technological diffusion remains in its early stages while capital expenditure, valuations, and investor sentiment have moved well ahead of it. The Variables Driving Equity Prices Markets first priced the scarcity of GPUs, high-bandwidth memory, servers, and data-center capacity, and later the capability gains delivered by frontier models and coding agents. In 2026, the variables driving equity returns are shifting away from model parameter counts and the scale of capital expenditure toward token production costs, task-completion reliability, usage intensity, enterprise-workflow penetration, and the ability of enormous AI investments to generate durable free cash flow. Behind that shift is a change in the magnitude of capital spending. J.P. Morgan Asset Management estimates that five U.S. hyperscalers will spend approximately $697 billion in 2026, with capital expenditure rising from roughly 33% of their operating cash flow in 2023 to an estimated 93%. Once capital expenditure consumes the overwhelming majority of operating cash flow, market attention necessarily moves from revenue growth to return on capital. The Bubble Sits in the Financial Architecture, Not the Industry Cloud revenue, coding-agent adoption, semiconductor sales, and enterprise demand are all growing in real terms, meaning AI technology itself is not a false narrative. Capital expenditure, external financing, data-center projects, private-model valuations, and a number of high-multiple second-tier equities, however, display increasingly speculative characteristics. Headline price-to-earnings ratios also fail to represent true valuation levels: Alphabet's multiple is distorted by investment income, and Amazon's current accounting profit does not reflect a normalized valuation. What genuinely offers value is the closest alignment among normalized valuation, competitive moats, cash flow, and AI optionality. At current prices and cycle positions, the report views Alphabet as offering the most compelling overall asymmetry, and applies the same framework across Microsoft, Meta, TSMC, NVIDIA, Amazon, Oracle, Micron, AMD, Arista, and Vertiv — distinguishing businesses with high fundamental win rates from those whose valuations already demand near-flawless execution. AI Is Reshaping How Crypto Investors Allocate Capital AI's role as a shared theme across global capital markets extends beyond U.S. equity pricing into the allocation behavior of crypto investors. As names including NVIDIA, Micron, TSMC, Broadcom, Meta, and Alphabet enter the everyday portfolios of crypto users alongside gold, crude oil, ETFs, and pre-IPO assets, a growing share of users now treat crypto and U.S. equities as different allocation directions within a single global risk-asset system. HTX has been one of the earliest crypto exchanges to systematically pursue this direction. According to data disclosed in August 2026, cumulative trading volume in the platform's TradFi perpetuals section has exceeded $2.5 billion, with support for more than 170 TradFi-related assets spanning U.S. equities, ETFs, gold, silver, crude oil, AI semiconductors, memory, aerospace, and pre-IPO themes such as OpenAI and Anthropic. What makes this model work is the platform's existing base of crypto users who have completed registration, verification, and funding. Holding stablecoins such as USDT, they can trade TradFi assets within the same account without opening a brokerage account or moving capital into a separate financial system — allocating toward gold, ETFs, or large-cap technology when risk appetite declines, and raising crypto and high-beta AI exposure when it recovers. The Competitive Boundary for Trading Platforms Is Shifting Competition among trading platforms will extend beyond spot markets, derivatives, liquidity, and listing speed toward a broader contest spanning multi-asset access, wealth management, and AI investment tools. Platforms with durable competitiveness will see their core capability evolve from execution alone toward global asset distribution. This confirms a larger judgment in the report: AI is changing not only model capability and compute demand, but capital flows, allocation behavior, and how financial products are organized. HTX's early positioning in TradFi corresponds with HTX Research's sustained tracking of the AI theme and cross-market capital flows — identifying cycle positions, reading capital flows, and understanding how assets move in relation to one another sits at the core of research work, and also forms a source of first-mover advantage in business decisions. As AI drives global markets into a new phase of convergence, institutions capable of understanding both industrial cycles and capital flows are better positioned for the next round of competition. *The above content is not an investment advice and does not constitute any offer or solicitation to offer or recommendation of any investment product. Iran vows 'devastating' response as US threatens toughest ever economic hit
Iran vows 'devastating' response as US threatens toughest ever economic hit melissa_fernan... Fri, 21 Aug 2026 - 17:30 Iran said on Friday that its response to any new U.S. threats would be "devastating" after Washington pledged to impose the toughest financial penalties in history with the aim of toppling the Iranian leadership. U.S. Treasury chief Scott Bessent's comments on Thursday followed a warning from President Donald Trump of economic consequences against any country that provided "any type of lifeline to Iran." Bessent promised details on Monday. The chief of staff of Iran's Armed Forces, Major General Ali Abdollahi, said the Islamic Republic's reaction would be broad and decisive. "With preparedness across land, sea, air, air defence and cyberspace, Iran's armed forces will respond to the enemy's new threats with crushing, punishing and devastating responses," Abdollahi was quoted as saying by Iranian media. Iran's powerful parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the country's main negotiator in mediated negotiations with the United States, said Washington appeared to have concluded it could not prevail in its direct military confrontation. "We must make plans to deal with the unjust sanctions so that we can overcome them," he said during a visit to neighbouring Iraq, accusing the U.S. and Israel of resorting to what he said was economic and "cognitive" warfare. BESSENT SAYS MEASURES SHOULD NOT DRIVE UP OIL PRICE Oil prices steadied on Friday but were on track for a second weekly rise on concern over Gulf energy exports. Oil hit a more than three-week high on Thursday after the sanctions threat, intended to force Iran to agree an end to a conflict that has stranded millions of barrels of Middle Eastern oil. "I'm not sure why oil has popped up on this," Bessent told CNBC. "If we are doing the maximum economic pressure, then that means that likely there will not be a large-scale kinetic restart," he said, using a term referring to military force. Thousands of people have been killed in the war, which drew in Gulf nations and shocked markets as Iran flexed its ability to curb shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — a waterway that carried about a fifth of all traded oil before February. The U.S. and Iran have twice announced ceasefire deals, in April and June, aiming to restore the free flow of shipping through Hormuz on a path towards ending the nearly six-month-old conflict, but both quickly crumbled. Iran has weathered near-continuous, punishing economic sanctions for nearly 50 years, since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Before Bessent spoke, Iran's foreign ministry said it condemned U.S. economic and trade sanctions, calling them "economic terrorism" that would not "create even the slightest hesitation in Iranians’ determination to safeguard Iran’s independence, dignity and national sovereignty." Bessent told CNBC he would share more details on the latest package and "talk about exactly what we're going to do" on Iran at a press conference on Monday. "It is a one-two punch. We have the blockade (on Iran), and we are going to have the toughest sanctions in history," he added, referring to a U.S. naval blockade imposed on Iran in April and paused for a month in mid-June. "It is going to work in Iran and we are going to collapse this regime. It is time for our allies and the rest of the world to make a decision," he said. Trump is under pressure at home to end the war, with high fuel prices dragging down his approval ratings and potentially threatening his Republican Party's control of Congress in midterm elections in November. REIMPOSED US BLOCKADE STARTS REDUCING OIL FLOWS TO CHINA China buys more than 80% of Iran's shipped oil, according to 2025 data from analytics firm Kpler, but engaging in further economic warfare with Beijing, a major exporter to the U.S. including of vital rare-earth minerals, risks retaliation against Washington. When asked if the United States could target China for doing business with Iran, Bessent said many conversations were best to have in private. "Keep in mind that the Chinese get 50% (of their) energy... from the Gulf. So it would do them a big service to get with the program," he said. China's embassy in Washington said "sanctions and pressure do not help resolve the problem". "China calls on the relevant parties to take responsible actions and resolve the issue through political and diplomatic means," according to an embassy spokesperson. Offers of Iranian crude to Chinese buyers have already declined and prices have jumped this week as the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports — reimposed on July 13 — has cut Tehran's shipments, trade sources told Reuters. From Hony Culture to AIROBO Platform Group: A New Hong Kong-Listed Robotics Narrative Behind the Name Change
HONG KONG , Aug. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AIROBO Platform Group (formerly Hony Culture Group, 00419.HK ) announced on Aug. 19 that its board of directors has proposed changing the Company's English name to " AIROBO Platform Group Limited". The proposed name change signals that the Group's robotics platform operations have evolved into a core strategic direction and will further reinforce its brand positioning in the capital market. AIROBO Platform Group Limited Name Change Reflects Strategic Business Upgrade As AI applications continue to expand into robotics platform operations, AIROBO believes that the existing name no longer fully reflects the current state of the Group's business development. The proposed renaming will establish a more appropriate corporate image and positioning, aligning the listed company's name with its core business brand. "This name change is not merely a branding adjustment, but a clear statement of the Group's future development direction," said AIROBO. "We are committed to building a unified robotics operations platform that addresses the critical challenges the industry faces when robots enter real-world environments." Platform Model Rapidly Expanding Almost simultaneously with this renaming, AIROBO's robotics business has been expanding rapidly. Following its cooperation with Longfor Property Services, the Group's subsidiary, AIROBO (Chengdu) Technology Co., Ltd., has also entered into partnerships with Central China Property Management, Excellence Property Management and Junfa Property Services, respectively, to jointly develop and operate property robotics operation platforms. AIROBO's business model is distinctly differentiated from traditional robot manufacturers. Rather than manufacturing a particular type of robot, the Company focuses on solving the challenge of unified operations after robots are deployed in real-world environments. Through a unified operating system and operations platform, AIROBO can connect, dispatch and manage robots of different brands, protocols and functions. The platform further integrates with elevators, access-control systems and property-management business systems, enabling robots to become genuinely embedded into daily operational workflows such as delivery, cleaning, inspection and security. Scenario Resources Become a Key Advantage The successive partnerships with property-management companies provide AIROBO's platform model with critical scenario resources. Communities, office buildings and industrial parks generate large volumes of high-frequency, repetitive and standardised tasks every day, giving them natural conditions for the scaled deployment of robots. "Over the past few years, the robotics industry has largely addressed the question of 'whether robots are available'," noted AIROBO. "The greater challenge in the next stage is 'where robots can work continuously'. Through our deep collaboration with property enterprises, we are providing robots with sustainable real-world working scenarios." When the platform simultaneously connects robot manufacturers with a large number of property projects, AIROBO's commercial logic evolves further: the Company is no longer simply providing a software system for individual projects, but is gradually becoming the connectivity layer through which robot suppliers gain access to a broad range of real-world application scenarios. Capital Market Looks Forward to Scale Effects The inclusion of "Platform" in the proposed new company name reflects AIROBO's firm commitment to platform-based development. From a capital-market perspective, AIROBO will continue to monitor key metrics: the number of property projects connected, the number of robot brands integrated, the volume of continuously operating robotic tasks, and ultimately whether it can build a robotics operations network spanning regions, brands and application scenarios. AIROBO believes that if these indicators continue to grow, "AIROBO Platform Group" will represent more than just a rebranding of a listed company; it will signal the emergence of a new role within the robotics industry formally entering the capital-market spotlight. At present, the proposed name change remains subject to approval at a special general meeting of shareholders and completion of the relevant registration procedures before it can formally take effect. This also heralds the advent of what could become the "first listed robotics operations platform company". About AIROBO Platform Group AIROBO Platform Group is a technology company dedicated to unified robotics operations platforms. Through its self‐developed operating system and management platform, it enables unified connectivity, scheduling and management of multi‐brand, multi‐type robots. The Group is committed to solving the operational challenges faced by the robotics industry in real‐world scenarios, providing intelligent solutions for properties, commercial buildings, industrial parks and other environments.

Trump says North Korea's Kim has responded to his overtures
Trump says North Korea's Kim has responded to his overtures melissa_fernan... Tue, 18 Aug 2026 - 11:51 A day after he ordered the United States to scale back military exercises with South Korea and called North Korea "unthreatening and respectful,"U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had responded to his outreach. Trump's relationship with Kim has received less White House emphasis than it did in his first term, when the two men met and exchanged letters, but the U.S. president has repeatedly signaled interest in reviving direct diplomacy with the North Korean leader. Asked by a reporter in the Oval Office why Kim had not responded to his efforts to reengage, Trump responded, "he has." He did not provide further details. White House officials and North Korea's mission to the United Nations in New York did not immediately respond when asked to comment. Trump on Sunday instructed the Pentagon to "substantially reduce" joint military exercises with long-term Asian ally South Korea, citing the cost of the drills and Seoul's refusal to take part in actions against Iran. North Korea denounces such drills as preparations for war. Kim and Trump's relationship was a dominant theme during Trump's first term. They held summits in 2018 and 2019 before negotiations broke down over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons arsenal. North Korea is under heavy international sanctions over those weapons, as well as its ballistic missiles. Last year, Kim's powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong, conceded that the personal relationship between her brother and Trump was "not bad," but if Washington intended to use a personal relationship as a way to end Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program, the effort would only be the subject of "mockery." Since Trump and Kim last met in 2019, North Korea has significantly strengthened ties with Russia while maintaining close relations with China. North Korean troops have fought alongside Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, and Kyiv said last week that North Korean-made missiles were used in a Russian ballistic missile attack on a steel plant in Zaporizhzhia. Trump's administration has repeatedly criticized North Korea's military support for Russia in Ukraine, but on Monday the president said "Kim Jong Un has always treated me with great respect." "I understand him. He understands me," he said. On Tuesday in Pyongyang, while making no mention of Trump, North Korea's state news agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as saying in a message to North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui that North Korea and Russia are working to establish a "new and righteous world order." NORTH KOREA "UNTHREATENING AND RESPECTFUL" On Sunday, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that drills were "not only costly ... but send a signal that is totally inappropriate and hostile, to a Country that, as long as Donald J. Trump has been President, has been unthreatening and respectful." Analysts say that despite North Korea's coolness to Trump's overtures and the much stronger position Kim is in since their last summit, another meeting between the two was possible. Victor Cha, head of the Korea program at Washington’s Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank, doubted North Korea would respond immediately, however. "I think they're going to bide their time and wait a little bit," he said. Cha said part of Trump's motivation for raising North Korea again appeared to be to shift headlines away from his struggles with the Iran war, although he was clearly interested in seeing Kim again. Andrew Yeo at Washington's Brookings Institution said a meeting would be in Kim's interest. "Some say that there's no reason why Kim Jong Un would want to meet Trump because he has Russia and China now in his pocket. But on the flip side, I feel like he has nothing to lose by meeting Trump because he has Russia and China in his pocket," he said. "For Kim, it's really about reputation. It's about meeting with the U.S. president again, and so it's about reputation and status," Yeo said. "It's just a matter of timing and when's the most optimal timing for Kim Jong Un." Sydney Seiler, a former U.S. National Intelligence Officer for North Korea, said Trump's latest move was not unprecedented, recalling that he suspended the major Ulchi Freedom Guardian drills in 2018 to encourage dialogue with Kim. "Of course, it didn't gain us that much at the time, but I don't think we lost that much at the time either," he said. DayOne Launches Singapore's First Biological Data Center Prototype with Cortical Labs and NUS Medicine
SINGAPORE , Aug. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- DayOne Data Centers Limited ("DayOne"), a Singapore-headquartered global digital infrastructure platform, today launched Singapore's first Biological Data Center Prototype in collaboration with Cortical Labs and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore ("NUS Medicine"). The milestone advances the development of biological computing as a potentially more adaptive and energy-efficient complement to conventional silicon-based infrastructure. The prototype was launched in the presence of the public sector, representatives from academia, the technology, and digital infrastructure sectors. Delegates viewed a live demonstration of Cortical Labs' CL1 biological computing system and toured the NUS laboratory supporting the initiative. The initiative offers a practical, sustainability-aligned alternative to conventional silicon infrastructure in Singapore through wetware-based computing, at a moment when the country and the broader region is expanding AI capacity under tighter energy and environmental guardrails. The deployment of a 20-unit CL1 biological computing system – the first independently operated biologically integrated server rack in the world – brings Cortical Labs' technology into a live research environment at NUS Medicine, hosted within infrastructure designed and supported by DayOne. It demonstrates an alternative pathway to scale AI capacity with significantly lower power intensity. Photo shows DayOne and Cortical Labs’ Biological Data Center Prototype at NUS Life Sciences Institute. A new frontier in computing Biological computing uses living neurons grown from stem cells and connected to silicon hardware to process information. The neurons receive electrical signals, respond, and adapt over time, enabling the system to perform certain computing tasks on a fraction of the wattage required by digital computers. The initiative draws on NUS Medicine's neurobiology expertise, Cortical Labs' technology, and DayOne's experience in designing, building, and operating mission-critical digital infrastructure. Areas of exploration include neuro-inspired artificial intelligence, biomedical modelling, drug discovery, and neurological disease research. "Our commitment to Singapore goes beyond capacity. We are here to help shape what the next generation of digital infrastructure looks like, and that means investing in approaches that meet Singapore's sustainability ambitions alongside its AI ambitions. This prototype is a step toward demonstrating that scaling compute and reducing resource intensity are goals we can pursue together," said Jamie Khoo, Chief Executive Officer of DayOne . "Singapore has the research depth, infrastructure capability, and collaborative ecosystem to lead that exploration. We are proud to contribute to translating frontier scientific research into practical impact, with world-class partners, in one of the world's most sustainability-driven markets." DayOne operates a digital infrastructure platform across nine markets in Asia Pacific and Europe and has secured approximately 2.1 GW of bookings since inception, supporting the growth of leading cloud and AI customers. "The establishment of this prototype shifts the conversation from research to commercial application," said Hon Weng Chong, Founder and CEO, Cortical Labs . "Biological computing supplements AI in areas where data is sparse, learning from far less and adapting as conditions change. Our aim is to uncover the use cases where that advantage matters most, in areas such as drug discovery, humanoid robotics, cybersecurity and fraud detection. Ultimately, this is about offering a more sustainable path for the technologies humankind depends on. Singapore is the innovation hub for Asia's data centre industry, and what we build here is the model we intend to replicate and scale globally." "This partnership marks a genuine shift in how we think about computing and its broader scientific potential," said Professor Rickie Patani, Professor of Neuroscience at NUS Medicine, Director of the Neurobiology Programme at the NUS Life Sciences Institute (LSI) and Chair of the Neuroscience Translational Research Programme at NUS Medicine. "By growing living human neurons from stem cells and pairing them with rigorous engineering, we're not only building a more efficient alternative to silicon; we're creating a platform that can help us understand learning and adaptation at their biological source. Trump orders Pentagon to cut back military exercises with South Korea
Trump orders Pentagon to cut back military exercises with South Korea melissa_fernan... Mon, 17 Aug 2026 - 09:51 U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday instructed the Pentagon to "substantially reduce" 10 days of joint military exercises with South Korea as they were about to get underway, citing the cost of the drills and Seoul's refusal to take part in actions against Iran. Hours before exercises were scheduled to begin, Trump said on his Truth Social site that although it was too late to cancel the drills entirely, he was "not happy" that the U.S. had previously agreed to participate and highlighted his "very good relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. "These exercises are not only costly... but send a signal that is totally inappropriate and hostile, to a Country that, as long as Donald J. Trump has been President, has been unthreatening and respectful," Trump wrote. The annual Ulchi Freedom Shield joint military exercises are scheduled to run from August 17 to 27, with about 18,000 South Korean military personnel participating. The drills are expected to include operations to counter drones, disrupt GPS signals and cyberattacks to adapt to North Korea's evolving capabilities, officials said last week. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff told Reuters that the drills started on Monday as scheduled, but declined comment on Trump's comments. The country's presidential office and defense and foreign ministries did not immediately respond on a public holiday in Seoul. A Pentagon spokesperson referred questions on the matter to the White House, which did not immediately respond to a request for more information on next steps for the drills. UP-AND-DOWN RELATIONSHIP Trump has long sought to end or curtail military exercises with South Korea, going back to his first term, calling them "provocative" and costly. He has also clashed with Seoul over sharing the costs of stationing 28,500 U.S. troops in South Korea and their role in securing the broader region. Pyongyang routinely denounces the U.S.-South Korean exercises as preparations for an invasion. North Korea last Wednesday fired a ballistic missile from its eastern coast towards the Sea of Japan, the South Korean and Japanese militaries said, six days after a similar North Korean short-range ballistic missile launch on August 6. Trump may be trying to improve relations with Kim, said Jenny Town, head of the Stimson Center think tank's 38 North program. "This decision may be part of a larger effort to create a diplomatic opportunity with Pyongyang, as Trump has consistently wanted since coming back to office, although the haphazard nature of this move is unlikely to make much of an impression in Pyongyang," Town said in an email. The relationship between Trump and Kim has been a roller coaster for years. Trump once mocked the North Korean leader as "little rocket man" and threatened Pyongyang with "fire and fury," while Kim boasted that he would "tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire." Yet they also took part in three summits, with Trump declaring, "we fell in love" after exchanging letters with Kim. None of these efforts led to changes in North Korea's nuclear weapons or ballistic missile development. Even as Trump on Sunday spoke warmly of nuclear-armed North Korea, he pointed to South Korea's stance on the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran. "While somewhat unrelated (?), I recently asked the President of South Korea if they would like to join us in the Denuclearization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they said, 'No thanks!'" Trump wrote. EXERCISES SHIFT TO SIMULATIONS It's unclear how the Ulchi Freedom Shield drills could be cut back, but in recent years, they have shifted away from live-fire exercises to computer-simulated missile and cyberattacks. U.S. military officials have said that North Korean troops, who have fought alongside Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, have gained experience from the conflict, including the growing use of unmanned systems, electronic warfare and cyber operations. Ukraine said last week that North Korean-made missiles were used in a Russian ballistic missile attack on a steel plant in Zaporizhzhia that killed seven workers and forced a production halt, with Russia's Zircon hypersonic missiles also used in the attack. A high-ranking U.S. Northern Command official, Lieutenant General Joseph Jarrard, last week warned that North Korea had successfully tested intercontinental ballistic missiles with "enough boost to deliver a nuclear payload anywhere in North America," complicating U.S. homeland defense efforts. Quantinuum Quantinuum Forward Faster Now APAC 2026 brings together business, United Nations and sustainability leaders to advance responsible business and regional collaboration COLOMBO, Sri Lanka , Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 200 business leaders, sustainability practitioners, policymakers and representatives from the United Nations gathered in Colombo on 11–12 August for Forward Faster Now APAC 2026: Driving Business Leadership for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth , the flagship regional event of the United Nations Global Compact in Asia-Pacific. Hosted by Global Compact Network Sri Lanka and organized by the UN Global Compact APAC Hub in collaboration with 14 Global Compact Country Networks covering 16 countries across the region, the event convened business and sustainability leaders from across Asia-Pacific to exchange practical solutions, strengthen regional partnerships and accelerate private sector action on sustainable development. As businesses navigate increasing climate risks, geopolitical uncertainty, technological disruption and shifting stakeholder expectations, the forum focused on how companies can build resilience, unlock long-term value and contribute to sustainable, inclusive economic growth through responsible business. "Across Asia-Pacific, businesses are operating in an increasingly complex environment shaped by climate change, technological disruption, evolving stakeholder expectations and geopolitical uncertainty. Yet these challenges also present an opportunity for companies to lead," said Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact. "Forward Faster Now demonstrates the power of bringing together business, the United Nations and partners to share practical solutions, strengthen collaboration and accelerate action where it matters most. By embedding sustainability into strategy and operations, companies can build more resilient businesses, unlock long-term value and help drive the inclusive and sustainable growth our world urgently needs." Across two days of high-level dialogues, interactive sessions and peer learning, participants explored practical approaches to advancing climate action, sustainable finance, water resilience, governance and accountability, gender equality, business and human rights, digital innovation, circular economy solutions and cross-sector partnerships. A central theme throughout the event was the growing importance of collaboration in addressing complex sustainability challenges. Business leaders emphasized that stronger partnerships between companies, Governments, investors, civil society and the UN will be essential to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while strengthening business resilience and competitiveness across the region. An in-person convening of the APAC Chief Sustainability Officers Peer Learning Group was also held on the sidelines of the event. The Group brings together 20 Chief Sustainability Officers from some of the region's leading and most engaged companies to exchange insights and advance collective action on sustainability. The meeting focused on breaking silos between sustainability and other business functions, with the aim of embedding sustainability more deeply across core business operations. The Peer Learning Group will run for one year, with members continuing to convene throughout the year to explore key sustainability priorities and share practical solutions and experiences. "We are proud to host Forward Faster Now APAC 2026 in Sri Lanka and welcome sustainability leaders from across the region," said Rathika de Silva, Executive Director, Global Compact Network Sri Lanka. "Asia-Pacific is home to some of the world's fastest-growing economies, and the decisions businesses make today will have a profound impact on the future of sustainable development. This gathering is about more than sharing ideas. It is about building partnerships, exchanging practical experience and equipping businesses with the tools and networks they need to translate ambition into measurable action." Throughout the event, participants shared practical examples of how companies are embedding sustainability into core business strategy, strengthening governance, building more resilient and responsible supply chains, scaling sustainable finance and harnessing innovation to create long-term value for both business and society. "Business can no longer view sustainability as a separate agenda. It is fundamental to long-term competitiveness, resilience and growth," said de Silva. "Events like Forward Faster Now create an invaluable opportunity to learn from peers, strengthen partnerships and identify practical approaches that help companies create value while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. The challenges we face are shared, and so are the opportunities. By working together across sectors and borders, businesses can move further and faster than any organization could alone." Forward Faster Now APAC 2026 reinforced the commitment of the UN Global Compact to supporting businesses across Asia-Pacific with practical tools, peer learning and partnerships that help translate sustainability ambition into measurable action. "Dear You" premieres in Thailand and Indonesia, resonating with audiences
GUANGZHOU, China , Aug. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- This is a news report from South: Usha, who portrays elderly Nanzhi, attends the "Dear You" premiere in Thailand Following its box-office success in China, the Chaoshan-dialect film "Dear You" is continuing its overseas release, drawing warm responses from audiences in Thailand and Indonesia. The film opened in Thailand on August 6 and Indonesia on August 7, following earlier releases in Singapore and Malaysia. Released on April 30, "Dear You" has grossed more than 2 billion yuan at the box office in China and over 100 million yuan overseas. Set in Thailand in the mid-20th century, the film tells a story of love, friendship, responsibility and family ties through the lives of people separated by migration. In the film, Musheng, a young man from Teochew (the Chaoshan region of Guangdong Province), who has just married Shurou, leaves his hometown for Thailand to make a living. He sends money home and keeps in touch with his wife through letters and remittances (known as Qiaopi). After he dies unexpectedly, however, his friend Nanzhi conceals Musheng's passing away from his family and continues to write letters to Shurou and send her money in Musheng's name for nearly two decades. Returning to the places where the story unfolds, the film held a special screening with the Teochew Association of Thailand on August 4, bringing together government officials, business leaders and members of the local community. Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei described the film as "simple yet deeply moving," saying it presents elements of Chinese culture and reflects the long-standing friendship between China and Thailand. "This movie connects people from China and Thailand," Thailand's Minister of Culture Sabida Thaised told South. She said she planned to watch the film with her family, describing it as a story about love, responsibility and enduring values. Dhanin Chearavanont, senior chairman of Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), also praised the film after the screening. Speaking to South, he said its themes reminded him of his father, who arrived in Thailand and built a business from scratch. The film received a similarly warm response in Indonesia, where it first opened in Jakarta. Wang Siping, cultural counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, said the film's themes of affection and loyalty reflect the experiences of people who left their hometowns to build new lives in Southeast Asia. He said he hoped the film would contribute to cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia by encouraging audiences to reflect on the stories and memories shared across generations. Indonesian performance artist Sukmawati Sukarnoputri, daughter of Indonesia's founding president Sukarno, told South that she was particularly moved by the friendship between the film's two female protagonists, adding that their reunion at the end of the film left the deepest impression on her. "At a time when the world is changing so rapidly, this film reminds young people that lifelong love and commitment still exist," she said. An Indonesian audience member who attended the screening told South that the film deeply moved her and reminded her of earlier generations who left their hometowns to build better lives for their families overseas. "We should tell the next generation that the lives they enjoy today did not come easily," she said. Singaporean entrepreneur Pan Yan, who had already watched the film in Singapore, also attended the Jakarta screening with his friends. "I watched the film in Singapore, but when I learned it was being shown in Indonesia, I invited some friends here to watch it again," he told South. He praised the film as warm and sincere, saying it was well worth a second viewing.

A Cup of Fresh Durian Coffee: The New Shu Road Comes to Life
BEIJING , Aug. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A news report from China.org.cn on the the New Shu Road: A Cup of Fresh Durian Coffee: The New Shu Road Comes to Life Have you ever seen durian coffee brewed right inside a fresh durian? This one-of-a-kind durian coffee has recently taken young people by storm at the Chengdu International Railway Port. You may be even more surprised to learn these durians were still hanging on the trees just five days ago. Five days later, they "rode" more than 2,000 kilometers via the China-Laos-Thailand all-rail-cold-chain freight service, traveling straight from major growing areas in eastern Thailand to the imported durian distribution center inside the Chengdu-Eurasia National (Commodity) Pavilion in the Chengdu International Railway Port. Thanks to this regular cold-chain rail route that delivers goods efficiently with minimal damage, and in seamless container journeys, tropical Southeast Asian fruits that once commanded steep prices — such as Vietnamese longans and Lao mangosteens — now reach Chinese consumers at lower prices and in better condition. If you look at the transport route map of Chengdu International Railway Port, every shipping line runs like a blood vessel, pumping steady vitality into countries and cities along the way. Since the first Chengdu-Europe Express Rail pulled out of Chengdu bound for Lodz, Poland, back in 2013, the Chengdu-Eurasia international logistics corridor centered on Chengdu has expanded steadily over more than a decade. More than 100 cities at home and abroad, including Moscow, Lodz, Vientiane, Hanoi and Izmir, have joined the network one after another. A land-sea intermodal shipping network focused on overland rail now connects Europe, Asia and North America, together with a backbone network of air cargo routes, has gradually taken shape. Today's sophisticated transport network stands in stark contrast to the region's isolation in ancient times. To reach the Shu lands (the Sichuan Basin around present-day Chengdu), travelers had to cross the formidable Qinling and Daba mountain ranges. The great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai once sighed, "The road to Shu is harder than climbing to the sky." The Italian explorer Marco Polo also wrote in his travelogue that traversing the Shu Road took twenty days, with winding paths snaking through mountains, gorges and dense forests. That is why inland western Chinese cities like Chengdu needed an efficient, stable international logistics corridor to break the shackles holding back development. No matter how hard the ancient Shu Road once was, a new thoroughfare had to be built. After years of infrastructure construction and strategic planning of international logistics corridors, the New Shu Road is fully open and efficient. Today, setting out from Chengdu, you can "roam" the Eurasian continent in just 20 days: Around 12 days by China-Europe Railway Express to Lodz and Moscow; Around 14 days to Nuremberg and Tilburg; Roughly 3 days to Laos and 5 days to Thailand via the all-rail freight line covering China, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia; And a mere 10 days to travel all across ASEAN via the ASEAN land-sea intermodal transport route. The smooth New Shu Road has turned into a global "conveyor belt" for the flow of goods. New energy products and specialty agricultural products "Made in Chengdu" and "Made in China" are constantly shipped overseas. Meanwhile, French red wine, German automobiles and other commodities pass through Chengdu to reach inland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. In the first half of this year, Chengdu's total import and export volume of goods hit 440.67 billion yuan. Transportation is no longer a constraint on local development — instead, it has become a force that nourishes and propels regional growth. Chengdu once relied heavily on traditional heavy industry, but the China-Europe Railway Express has rapidly opened it up to the outside world and driven industrial upgrading. This positive impact has spilled over to many more regions along the routes. For example, Malaszewicze, a small Polish border town, has grown into a key EU logistics hub thanks to the railway service. In ancient times, the Shu Road was hard, because mountains and passes stood in the way. Today, the new Shu Road stretches far and wide, connecting China with the rest of the world. The ever-improving New Shu Road brings impetus for high-standard opening-up to China's western hinterland, offering richer opportunities for all countries, cities and enterprises along the routes, and delivering tangible benefits to people everywhere — just like that fresh cup of durian coffee.
