Contextual updates The Ebola outbreak continues to evolve in a highly complex operational environment, with more than 3,000 confirmed cases to date. Community transmission remains a major concern, with approximately 63% of reported deaths from 14-20 July occurring in the community, indicating that many patients continue to die at home rather than accessing timely treatment. This highlights persistent challenges related to risk communication, community engagement, trust in the response, and timely care-seeking. In addition, the Cash Working Group has monitored an increase of 35% in the minimum expenditure basket value between May and June 2026 in Bunia, showing the impact of Ebola outbreak on local markets and inflation. The geographical scope of the outbreak also remains under close monitoring. Two additional provinces recently reported affected cases, including Tshopo and Haut-Uele Provinces (bordering the Central African Republic). Crossborder transmission continues to pose a significant regional concern.
