Country: Afghanistan Source: United Nations Population Fund Please refer to the attached file. Since 20 July 2026, heavy rainfall and flash floods have affected Laghman, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Logar, Kapisa, Parwan, Ghazni, Paktia, and Paktika provinces, resulting in deaths and injuries, displacement, and widespread damage to homes, livelihoods, and public infrastructure. Flooding has severely constrained access to essential health and protection services, affecting an estimated 1,994 women and girls of reproductive age. Pregnant women, adolescent girls, older women, and women-headed households face heightened protection and reproductive health risks as a result of disrupted services and limited access to care. UNFPA continues to scale up its response by providing emergency sexual and reproductive health services and psychosocial support. As of 30 July, UNFPA’s mobile sexual and reproductive health and psychosocial support team had reached more than 1,400 people, providing antenatal and postnatal care, reproductive health and family planning services, general health consultations, and psychosocial support. In addition, 227 dignity kits and 50 mama and baby kits have been distributed to flood-affected women. UNFPA is conducting joint needs assessments to identify emerging priority needs in sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, and psychosocial support among affected populations, alongside dedicated community feedback mechanisms. The findings continue to inform the scale, targeting, and prioritization of UNFPA’s response, in close coordination with humanitarian partners.
