The Autonomous Region of Bougainville’s Education Secretary, Ms Dorothy Kenneth, has issued a circular announcing a delay to the resumption of Term Two classes for all schools, citing safety threats posed by Cyclone Maila. In Education Secretary’s Circular Instruction No. 02/2026, dated 10 April 2026, the Department announced that classes across all sectors will be postponed for one week — from Monday 13 April to Friday 17 April — to allow time for weather conditions to stabilise and for authorities to repair damaged access roads and bridges.
