By Samoa News staff reporters@samoanews.com Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Saturday, March 28 at 10:00 AM community members will gather for a peaceful “No Kings” demonstration on the same day as 3,000 other communities across the U.S. The Daniel K Inouye Industrial Park road, across the street from the Red Cross/ Oasis Restaurant is the site for the event. The demonstration serves as a reminder of the core principles our nation was founded on. A democracy that is of, for, and by the people. Participants aim to reaffirm that our system of government rejects rule by kings, monarchs, or oligarchs, and instead centers the voice and power of the people. Organizers emphasize that this will be a peaceful and respectful demonstration, welcoming individuals who wish to stand in unity for democratic values and civic engagement. “The main idea is that Americans must resist the current president, who is bent on acting like a dictator. His unreasonable and dangerous dictates must be opposed. The rule of law must be respected. DUE PROCESS must be observed for ALL,” according to Wendy Malepeai, one of the organizers. The public is encouraged to participate, bring signs, and stand together in support of democracy and the rights of the people. Section: Local News Tags: No Kings
