Une tortue volée à l’Intercontinental
Tahiti, le 8 mars 2026 - La bêtise n’a donc aucune limite. Il y a près de 10 jours, un groupe de jeunes a réussi à déjouer la surveillance de l’hôtel Intercontinental pour voler une des tortues pensionnaire de l’association Te mana o te Moana. Y a-t-il vol plus stupide que celui réalisé il y a dix jours au centre de soins pour les tortues blessées installé au sein de l’hôtel Intercontinental ? Selon nos informations, une tortue, pensionnaire depuis plus de 7 ans auprès de l’association, a été dérobée par un groupe de jeunes qui avait pénétré de nuit, par la mer, selon les indications reçues sur place. Cette dernière serait Miti Iti ou Okely, une de deux “flottantes”. Un vol qui est une première pour l’association qui n’a pas souhaité communiquer sur ce fait divers. Mais cet événement a meurtri tous ses membres de l’association, impliqués au quotidien pour la préservation de la tortue marine et plus largement dans des campagnes et des missions de protection de l’environnement et de la biodiversité. Alors que chaque jour, l’association, accompagnée par la Direction de l’environnement, se démène pour protéger les espèces de tortues, réalisant des chiffres formidables sur les retours des pontes, notamment à Tetiaroa, ce vol de tortue interroge sur les motifs clairs des jeunes gens. Toujours selon nos informations, une enquête serait en cours à la suite d’une plainte déposée par l’hôtel de Faa’a, et nombreux sont ceux qui espèrent retrouver rapidement les auteurs de ce bas larcin.
