Work to begin on new Garðabær neighbourhood

Garðabær municipality has requested tenders for supervision work at Arnarnesháls in connection with a planned development of a new neighbourhood. A notice on Útboðsvefurinn (public procurement website) says the work includes the construction of roads and paths, as well as utility work for the development of the new neighbourhood. A new neighbourhood is planned on land belonging to Garðabær, on the boundary between the municipality and Kópavogur. The planning area covers about nine hectares and is bounded by Hafnarfjarðarvegur to the west, Arnarnesvegur to the south, Fífuhvammsvegur to the east and the municipal boundary between Garðabær and Kópavogur to the north. The project website says the proposed detailed development plan provides for about 450 homes, various local services and a health cluster where a range of health and high-technology companies could be based. Road construction is scheduled for completion by 1 April 2027.
