Cameroon’s Belife Consolidates Control of Togo Insurance Unit After Prudential Exit

Cameroon's Belife Insurance SA has acquired a stake previously held by Prudential Africa Holdings Limited in the group's life insurance subsidiary in Togo. The transfer, acknowledged by shareholders of the Togolese company on November 28, 2025, was disclosed in a legal notice published on the official website of Togo's Business Formalities Center (CFE). The transaction follows the British insurance group's withdrawal from Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, and Togo, completed in July 2025, and further consolidates the role of the Cameroonian company within the regional insurance business. The transfer was formally incorporated into the Togolese company's articles of association through a notarized deed dated February 2, 2026. According to the notice, Prudential Africa Holdings Limited transferred its stake to Cameroon's Belife Insurance SA, formerly Beneficial Life Insurance. The Togolese subsidiary subsequently changed its name from Prudential Beneficial Life Insurance to Belife Insurance SA.
