Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is set to receive a brand-new car after being named the Best Domestic Player in the Black Stars.Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku announced the reward during the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Congress held on Thursday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.The prize package is valued at $38,000 and was announced in the presence of Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams.Asare earned the award following his impressive performances for Ghana, including at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars reached the knockout stage.The 33-year-old was the only Ghana Premier League player included in Ghana’s World Cup squad and featured in three of the team’s four matches.He also kept a clean sheet against eventual bronze medallists England during the tournament.Asare, a former Great Olympics goalkeeper, is expected to remain Hearts of Oak’s first-choice goalkeeper for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
