Country: Viet Nam Sources: International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Vietnam Red Cross Society Please refer to the attached file. Description According to Viet Nam authorities, flooding from the earlier heavy-rain episode in northern and north-central Viet Nam continues to recede. Subsequent heavy rainfall affected parts of central and southern Viet Nam, with impacts generally remaining localized. Lam Dong: Government assessments recorded 2,848 houses flooded and approximately 7,540 ha of rice, vegetables and other crops affected during 20–24 September. Floodwaters have since receded, with no houses remaining flooded and relocated households returning home. Dong Nai: The person previously reported missing after being swept away was confirmed dead. On 29 September, heavy rainfall caused localized flooding of 70 houses in Long Thanh, with flood depths of approximately 0.5–1.2 m. Around 2.4 km of local roads were flooded or affected by erosion. Water had largely receded by 30 September. Ho Chi Minh City: Heavy rainfall on 30 September caused widespread urban flooding, disrupting transport and daily activities. Water had largely receded by the evening. No casualty or displacement figures were reported. Ca Mau: Prolonged rainfall and high tides affected agricultural and aquaculture production, including approximately 6,866 ha of summer-autumn rice, more than 11,000 ha of newly planted rice-shrimp areas and more than 5,450 ha of aquaculture. A thunderstorm on 28 September damaged or unroofed 11 houses. Vinh Long: A localized embankment breach in Cai Ga, Cho Lach, flooded 20 households and more than 20 ha of fruit trees. Local authorities mobilized personnel and equipment to reinforce the embankment and support affected households. Current Weather and Hydrological Situation The broader heavy-rain episode has eased. Monitoring is currently focused on localized rainfall in southern Viet Nam, Mekong/Cuu Long River levels and high-tide conditions. The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) continues to monitor rainfall, river levels and tidal conditions. Current forecasts indicate mainly localized afternoon and evening thunderstorms, rather than another widespread heavy-rain event.
