[밀라노=뉴시스] 쇼트트랙 대한민국 대표팀 선수들이 4일(현지시간) 이탈리아 밀라노 아이스스케이팅 아레나에서 훈련을 하고 있다. 2026.02.03.[천지일보=홍보영 기자] 한국 남자 쇼트트랙 대표팀이 2026 밀라노·코르티나담페초 동계올림픽에서 개인전 ‘노골드’의 성적표를 받아들었다.16일(한국시간) 이탈리아 밀라노 아이스스케이팅 아레나에서 열린 대회 남자 500m 예선에 출전한 황대헌(27, 강원도청)과 임종언(19, 고양시청)은 모두 다음 라운드 진출에 실패했다. 이로써 대표팀은 이번 대회 남자부 개인전 모든 일정을 금메달 없이 마무리하게 됐다.앞서 1500m에서 은메달을 목에 걸었던 황대헌은 이날 예선 4조에서 41초191을 기록했다. 레이스 초반 3위로 출발한 황대헌은 끝내 선두권 추월에 실패했다. 류 샤오앙(중국)의 속도와 펠릭스 피지온(폴란드)의 견제에 막혀 조 상위권에 들지 못한 황대헌은 개인전 마지막 종목에서 발길을 돌렸다.8조에 나선 임종언 역시 예선의 문턱을 넘지 못했다. 경기 시작 직후 니얼 트레이시(영국)와 충돌해 넘어지면서 재출발이 선언됐고 다시 시작된 레이스에서 순위를 끌어올리지 못한 채 3위로 결승선을 통과하며 탈락했다.한국 남자 쇼트트랙이 올림픽 개인전에서 금메달을 수확하지 못한 것은 2014 소치 대회 이후 12년 만이다. 당시 대표팀은 전 종목 노메달이라는 부진을 겪은 바 있다. 이번 대회에서는 임종언이 1000m 동메달, 황대헌이 1500m 은메달을 따내며 메달 행진은 이어갔으나, 세계 최정상급 기량의 상향 평준화 속에 끝내 시상대 가장 높은 곳에 서지는 못했다.대표팀은 이제 대회 마지막 종목인 남자 5000m 계주만을 남겨두고 있다.
