UNICEF provided life-saving health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), education and child protection services to 2.3 million crisis-affected people across India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, including 1.9 million children. UNICEF strengthened national preparedness and anticipatory action capacities and promoted locally led, accountable and disability-inclusive humanitarian action. By June 2026, UNICEF had received US$35.4 million against its regional Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeal of US$71.4 million, limiting response, preparedness and anticipatory action efforts, including for emerging El Niño-related risks.
