Taiwan military drills clear streets, slow internet in Taipei

By Yi-Chin Lee and Angie Teo TAIPEI, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Air raid sirens rang out and streets emptied in Taiwan's capital Taipei on Thursday during annual air raid drills that also included the government deliberately limiting mobile internet access to simulate what might happen in the event of a Chinese attack. Taiwan, which China views as its own territory, is approaching the end of its 10-day-long annual Hang Kuang war games, where the military has practised fighting a Chinese invasion and the government has alongside it held civil defence drills. 2026-08-13 03:46:33
